Environment Agency
Local Topography and Flood Risk Assessment
As with all of the services provided by NetSupport, we fully
expect all companies to conduct suitable due diligence in
satisfying the suitability of any future Business Continuity
provider.
Key items for consideration include :
- Review of latest Audited Accounts - is
the business sound ?
- Local Access Limitations - site
accessibility in inclement weather.
- Existing customer feedback - are
they happy with the service ?
- On site services - and redundancy
thereof.
- Local Environmental factors - highways
maintenance, flooding.
Location
The NetSupport Powerweb Business Continuity facility is
situated in Market Deeping, a few miles to the north of
Peterborough city centre. The site offers an ideal location
for easy access for both companies, and most importantly
your re-located staff, in the event of a disaster.
Market Deeping can be accessed from Peterborough by utilising
either the A15 or indirectly on Lincoln road via the villages
of Glinton and Northborough. In addition, direct access
is available from the A1 via Stamford.
Accessing our Site
As is often the case, the smallest items tend to be the
ones most likely to be omitted from a continuity provider
checklist. Access limitation is a key factor for consideration.
How many public roads service the site in question, if a
single road, what would be the impact of a major road traffic
accident?
If non-public roads are utilised to access the site how
would these be affected by inclement weather conditions
such as snow, and who has ownership and service responsibility
of these.

NetSupport Powerweb's Site is serviced by distinct and independent
entrances from both Towngate East and Blenheim Way, each
providing separate access routing from three distinct directions
( as show in the map above) within Market Deeping.
All routes are subject to highways agency gritting services
directly to both site entrances and are therefore not at
risk of access limitations in bad weather.
Environmental Factors
An increasingly common question raised by customers is in
relation to a potential business continuity sites' likely
risk of flooding. NetSupport Powerweb can confirm that our
Market Deeping site is not, nor has ever been, on a defined
flood plain.
The NetSupport Business Continuity site has never experienced
flooding, and as with all the aspects identified for consideration
in the summary above, we are able to provide a full written
confirmation from each relevant legislative body, in this
case the environment agency. A PDF copy of this confirmation
from the environment agency can be viewed
here. The map below is taken directly from the agency
website.

Environment agency assessment for the NetSupport site was
:- "The location is in an area which fell well outside
the extent of the extreme flood, at the time of our assessment
of the likelihood of flooding. Generally this means that
the chance of flooding each year from rivers or the sea
is 0.1% (1 in 1000) or less."
This ratio was assigned to all regions of East Anglia that
did not show a specific flood risk and is the lowest risk
level available..
